This project focused on identifying key intervention points in AirPod’s design to enable a more circular approach. It highlighted the planned obsolescence stemming from adhesive-sealed ABS plastic casings that encase the lithium-ion batteries, making replacement difficult. The three redesign concepts address user replacement behavior, producer-driven obsolescence, and social influences.
